LED lighting

The LEDs used for illumination are mostly white. LED lighting relies heavily on the invention of blue LED chips and improved luminous efficiency.

There are two main ways to implement white LEDs. One is to use LED chips and phosphors, and the other is to use RGB 3-color LED chips. At present, the first method is mainly adopted.

The use of phosphors is generally done by coating a yellow phosphor on a blue LED chip. When the blue light emitted from the LED chip encounters the phosphor, part of the light is converted into yellow light. This part of the converted yellow and blue light is mixed together and becomes white light. The color temperature of the white LED can be controlled by adjusting the amount of the phosphor, so the color of the light is determined at the time of production, and cannot be adjusted later.

At the same time, if the blue light and the yellow light are mixed, the color rendering property is poor due to insufficient red and green components. In this way, color rendering can be improved by mixing red and green phosphors in the blue LED chip or RGB phosphors in the ultraviolet LED chip.
